About GDO The Grassroot Development Organization (GDO) is a Rwandan non-governmental organization with its head office in Kigali. It was established by Ministerial Order No: 24/08.11 of March 2012, published in the Official Gazette No: 19 of May 7, 2012. GDO is officially recognized through a Certificate of Compliance issued by the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB). GDO was created to assist and empower women and girls, young people, and children in rural communities. Its focus includes education, rights protection, health, environmental protection, climate change, and capacity building to enhance access to economic and social opportunities. Mission To assist and empower women and girls, young people, and children in rural communities through education, rights protection, health promotion, environmental action, and capacity building. Vision A rural community where women, young people, and children are empowered and have access to education, health, rights, and development opportunities. Objectives Assist and empower women, girls, young people, and children in rural areas. Promote education and protect the rights of children and women. Work on health issues such as malaria control and TB/HIV/AIDS prevention. Support environmental protection and respond to climate change. Build capacity to help communities access economic and social opportunities.
